A save the date gives guests enough information to hold the day and begin planning. The format should suit the people on your list and the way you will reach them. Some guests will keep a physical reminder on the refrigerator; others need a message they can open on their phone.
You can use more than one format. A mailed item for one household and a digital message for another can carry the same names, date and wedding location. Keep a record of which version each household received so nobody is missed.
Separate an opener magnet from a thin magnet card
Magnetica save the dates are bottle opener magnets with a printed body, metal opener jaw and magnetic back. Their shape and thickness differ from a thin flexible magnet card. Compare the actual product and its packaging before estimating mailing costs.
An opener magnet offers a physical reminder guests can keep and use. It also adds a product choice, personalization check and packing task to your plan. Allow time for those steps and for shipping; do not treat a production estimate as an arrival date.
Compare the work each format creates
| Format | Useful when | Plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Bottle opener magnet | You want a physical keepsake and your recipients would use it. | Design details, suitable packaging, a finished-package postage check and delivery time. |
| Paper card | You prefer a printed announcement with room for a simple layout. | Printing, envelopes, current addresses and the carrier's mailing requirements. |
| Digital message | You have a reliable contact route and want to send or update information without postal handling. | Correct contact details, readable mobile content and a way to confirm guests received it. |
Count households and check contact details
Start with the people you intend to invite. Group households that should receive one announcement, then record a postal address or digital contact for each. Confirm how names should appear rather than copying an old address book without checking it.
For a physical order, add a small reserve for address changes or keepsakes you want to retain. Use the household count rather than the final seat count. For digital delivery, check the message on a phone and offer a plain-text version if the recipient cannot read the image.
Keep the announcement short and the update route clear
Use your names, wedding date and enough location information for early planning. Check that the date is settled before you place a personalized order. A wedding website can hold details that may change, but you still need to tell guests where to find it.
For Magnetica event designs, enter names and date in their own fields and put the selected MG design number in the design field. The 20-piece minimum uses one design with the same personalization; quantities move in steps of five. Our wording, quantities and mailing guide has a pre-order and mailing checklist.
Compare the full cost before choosing
For mailed formats, total the item, any card or bag, outer packaging and postage for the finished package. Include shipping to you before you mail anything onward. Digital delivery may involve a paid design or sending service, so check its terms as well.
If a bottle opener magnet fits your guests and schedule, compare the save the date designs. Keep a separate delivery list even if you use the same artwork across your physical and digital announcements.
